Rawdustland.....
Pushkar, Jodhpur and Udaipur...
We both accumulated beautiful travel experiences, often long periods, some for work, some for studies. Our new project leads us to travel everything else. This time we haggle!
One feels transported in time, much like in a story of Maalouf or Hugo Pratt. We stroll through colorful bazaars filled with pleasant and less pleasant fragrances, between textiles, spices and antique jewellery. "How much this? How much that? You have more? "
On the other hand India is not a vacancy, it is contrasting and sometimes shocking. It gives us lots of emotions; Dark and difficult feelings. It is chaotic and noisy, but India is also magical, mystical and of a intoxicating sweetness.
In Pushkar, Jodhpur and Udaipur, no meetings on the calendar, only the discovery of the markets. It's almost unreal, in life it seems that the less you plan, the more doors open to possibilities and luck. The great thing about India is that there is no control or almost nothing. The unexpected and how they are kissed transform a single day into 4 boxes to shipper!!!
At each destination we meet at least one key person with whom it sticks entirely. It's like we already know each other, communication is natural. We fell on Abi. In addition to having a jewelry factory and a shop in Pushkar, he also has his shipping company. Abi must be 22 years old. This meeting is crucial for us. Shipping in India can be very demanding. Abi will manage all our shipments from all over India to Canada. What's great about this contact is that it allows us to take the time to go to work more directly with the artisans.
A little thought before you leave:
In work, in relationships, in life and no matter the culture, the distance, the age, the beliefs that differ from us, it all comes down to the fact that when it clicks it clicks. And for us it is this feeling that it takes to establish a real good relationship.
We leave this beautiful area a little backwards. Ahmedabad and the Kutch region are ultra rich in textiles on the other hand in our memories, travelling there is more tedious. Seven years later?
Pushkar, Jodpur, Upaipur,
We both have a bit of experiences with travels, some fairly long ones as well. Some were for work others for studies. This New project of ours is teaching us a new way to travel. This time we are doing business!
We are travelling in time just as if we would be in one of Maalouf's or Hugo Pratt's books. We are out and about exploring those vibrant bazaars passing through pleasant and less pleasant perfumes in between textiles, spices and beautiful antiques. How much this, how much that? You have more?
India is not a vacation. It is a place of contrasts and chaos and can be quite choking at times. It makes you go through strong and dark emotions. But India also brings you magic and is a great source of peace and harmony at the same time.
Nothing on the schedule in Pushkar, Johdur nor Udaipur, only exploring some markets. How Strange, it's when you lease expect it that amazing opportunities come along. The crazy thing in India is that you can't really control how things will turn, an ordinary day can end up with 4 new boxes to ship back home.
In Each destination we always meet that one key person with whom it really clicks. Just like if we already know them, communication is natural. Abi..... A 22 year old handyman. A huge resource for us so far. Not only he owns a jewelry shop, a jewelry manufacture but he also has is own shipping company. Shipping in India can be very time consuming. This Guy will be managing all of our purchases form around India and will ship it to Canada. This is of great value to us because it ables us to concentrate on meeting and working directly with the craftsmen. What We are really aiming for.
Just a thought before leaving you:
Relationships in life only depend on if there is a match or not. No differences of culture, age, distance or beliefs should make a difference. It is this exact feeling that is essential to establish what is for us, a real good relationship.
We leave this beautiful region for the mega City of Ahmedabad and the Kutch region. Both well known for it's rich textile culture, we remember them being challenging travel wise. Seven years later?......
